At Prism Lights, our lighting is designed to bring character and elegance to your home. Proper installation and care will help maintain the appearance and performance of your lighting for years to come.

1. Professional Installation

Electrical lighting products should be installed by a qualified electrician or appropriately qualified professional, in accordance with applicable local electrical regulations.

Do not attempt electrical installation if you are not appropriately qualified.

Before installation or maintenance, ensure that the electrical power supply has been switched off.

2. Before Installation

Before installing your lighting fixture:

- Carefully inspect the product for visible damage.

- Check that all components and accessories are present.

- Read any installation instructions supplied with the product.

- Confirm that the mounting location is suitable for the fixture.

- Check the electrical requirements of the product.

- Ensure that the electrical supply is switched off before beginning installation.

If the product appears damaged or components are missing, contact Prism Lights before installing it.

3. Cleaning Your Lighting

Regular gentle cleaning can help maintain the appearance of your lighting.

We recommend:

- Switching off the light and allowing it to cool before cleaning.

- Using a soft, dry or lightly dampened cloth where appropriate.

- Following any product-specific care instructions supplied with your order.

- Avoiding abrasive materials that could scratch the finish.

Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents unless specifically recommended for the particular material or finish.

4. Brass and Metal Finishes

Some brass and metal finishes may naturally change appearance over time due to exposure to air, humidity, handling, and other environmental factors.

This natural ageing process may create variations in colour or patina and can contribute to the individual character of the product.

If a specific finish requires special care, please follow the instructions supplied with the product.

5. Glass Components

Handle glass components carefully.

Do not use excessive force when installing, removing, or cleaning glass parts.

If a glass component is cracked, broken, or otherwise damaged, discontinue use and contact us for assistance.

6. Bulbs and Electrical Components

Use bulbs and electrical components that meet the specifications stated for the individual product.

Do not exceed the recommended wattage or electrical specifications.

Do not modify wiring, sockets, switches, or other electrical components unless the work is carried out by an appropriately qualified professional.

7. Outdoor or Damp Locations

Only use a lighting product in an outdoor, bathroom, or damp environment if the product is specifically designed and rated for that location.

Always check the product specifications and applicable installation requirements before installation.

8. Product Modifications

Do not modify, alter, rewire, or otherwise change a Prism Lights product without appropriate professional advice and authorisation where required.

Unauthorised modifications may affect safety, performance, and product eligibility for returns or other remedies.

9. If Something Goes Wrong

Stop using the product and switch off the electrical supply if you notice:

- Sparks

- Burning smells

- Excessive heat

- Flickering that appears abnormal

- Damaged wiring

- Cracked electrical components

- Any other unusual or potentially unsafe behaviour

Contact a qualified electrician where appropriate.

If you believe the product itself is defective, contact Prism Lights so we can assist.
